Rennes Viaduct

Key data

Located at the northern end of the future Line B of the Rennes automatic metro, and manufactured in a set by Razel-Bec, the 8.60 metre wide viaduct is 2,400 metres long. It consists of 979 segments prefabricated on site, installed with a 600-tonne beam launcher and then prestressed.

The concrete segments are manufactured on site, then assembled with precision, thanks to a huge metal gantry that moves as the work progresses. Each segment weighs approximately 35 tonnes, and up to 70 tonnes for the largest segment.
