KIO Towers

These buildings are twin 114-metre high, 26-storey office inclined skyscrapers located in Plaza de Castilla in Madrid, Spain. These towers are also popularly known as KIO Towers due to the fact that they were promoted to a considerable extent by the Kuwaiti company KIO, an acronym for Kuwait Investment Office. These are the second tallest twin towers in Spain. Each building has a 14.3 degree inclination that is, are inclined towards each other from the vertical and were the first inclined skyscrapers in the world. The towers were built between 1989 and 1996 and designed by the American architects Philip Johnson and John Burgee. The project engineering was undertaken by Leslie E. Robertson Associates and the construction by Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas (FCC).
